Secure Computing

This company provides excellent, inexpensive firewall and more to secure your network from Internet attacks and other risks on the Internet.

Free Stuff

As I find out about software that works well, I will put a comment and a link here.

Keep your files safe

I like backups that are automated because not taking time to do backups is a frequent reason they stop being done. Having an offsite copy of your files provides added safety but until now it was expensive to automate.  Try GetDropBox.com if you have a mix of Mac and Windows PCs.  Up to 2 GB is free and it is inexpensive to set up more.   You can recover if something happens to your office.  Works automatically in the background.

Manage Tasks

Want a little help managing your To-Do list?  Try Toodledo.com.  Manage tasks and sync with your mobile phone so your list stays up to date.  If you go for the Pro edition (which is really inexpensive) you can have nested tasks.  I like that feature because I think in groups of tasks and Outlook doesn’t make that easy.

Use Digital Phone Connections

Want to make calls for cheap on the Internet?  Microsoft makes a new phone system in a box called Response Point.  You will want to know more about Voice over IP (VOIP)?  Check out VoIP Info.  That and Wikipedia.org are the two best sources I have found.

Anti-Virus Software

If you need a quick solution, use AVG.  If you are a non-profit and have your 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, get Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition from TechSoup.
